Anadi Farms And Godham
Organic Farming at Anadi
Anadi leased a land of 5 Acres in the villages of Pali in order to initiate Organic farming effortsin the vicinity of the
Old Age Home in May 2015.
The practices involve use of bio-compost, cow-dung and cow’s urine as a fertilizer and to restore and maintain soil
nutrients. We have been able to reap produce in a particular crop cycle which includes multi-cropping of cereals, vegetables
and other horticultural produce, for the entire year. The concept of symbiotic synergism of one crop to the next was
also kept in mind while following the multi-crop cycle during the year.
Threats: As Anadi was new to Organic farming, the farmers around tried to scare about the failure of crops, without
the use of urea and other fertilizers. Anadi, however, did not deter or sway from its goal and did an absolute organic
farming of crops. The predictions of the farmers failed, reinstating our faith and belief in traditional and organic
farming methods.
Benefits : The outcome was healthy, organic food for the inmates of the ashram. The improvement in health
of our senior citizens was conspicuous with lesser bowel disturbances.
Another important benefit of the farm was that the produce sold to the market contributed towards upkeep of the
senior citizens’ home.
